Mum in town highlights 🤍

I fell in love with a boy who substituted “good” with “wonderful”.
Then I fell in love with a boy who played my favourite songs, and danced the sadness back into joy.
Then I fell in love with a boy who swam naked with me in empty beaches.
And again, with whoever else found themselves in the passenger seat, running towards adventure with me.

Looking back, 6 years older and a touch wiser, I see those memories differently. I’ve fallen in love with life, laughter, energy and freedom. That’s not a person; that’s a feeling. And that ecstatic love-y freedom feeling can be found in the company of your best friend, yourself, your skis, your camera or a bunch of strangers.

You comment, not unkindly, that I dance with other boys too.
I reply, “yes, but you’re my favourite.”
And it’s all right there in your face.
What you heard wasn’t what I meant.

What I meant was,
Your face was the only one I looked for.
Your smile was the only one that made me weak.
Your eyes were the only ones I wanted.
And your bed was the only place I’d sleep.

There was no Plan B
Because you felt like the whole damn alphabet.

For a moment, at least.
